(Peru, Neb.) – The Culver-Stockton College (C-SC) men's basketball team jumped out to a 13-0 lead over the visiting Peru State College (PSC) Bobcats and never looked back. The Wildcats cruised to a 99-65 win over PSC on Saturday in Canton, Mo.
With the win, the Wildcats improved to 18-6 overall and 9-3 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC). By winning their fourth game in a row, Culver-Stockton is now tied for second in the ten-team league with MidAmerica Nazarene University.
The loss dropped the Bobcats to ninth in the league with a 2-10 mark in conference play. Overall, Peru State is 9-14 and has dropped their last four contests.
Game Action
Derrick Williams (St. Joseph, Mo.) hit a pair of free throws to stop the Wildcats' initial 13-0 run at the 15:46 mark in the first half. Culver-Stockton would score another seven points to lead 20-2 before
Nate Bohy (Mesa, Ariz.) hit back-to-back buckets to cut the Wildcats' lead to 20-6.
However, the 14-point deficit would be as close as Peru State would get in the game as the Wildcats pulled away for a 50-28 halftime lead.
Kody Kirkpatrick (Loami, Ill.) hit a three-pointer to start the second half and PSC was back within 19 at 50-31. But, all the three-pointer did was to apparently ire the Wildcats as they scored the next 16 points, making it 66-31 with 16:28 left in the game.
Over the course of the rest of the game, it was played pretty even as PSC scored 34 points while C-SC finished with 33.
