The Flames put their only run of the game on the board in the top of the second inning to cut it to 3-1 – a score that would stand until the bottom of the fourth inning when Peru State got on the board again.

Stephanie Holdsworth (Bennet) bunted and reached on a base hit with Massengale going to third.
Casee Ford (Fort Collins, Colo.) came in as a pinch runner for Holdsworth. On a wild pitch by the Flames, Massengale scored and Ford made it to third, just beating out the tag. Following back-to-back outs, Hoock singled down the right-field line driving in Ford. At the end of four, the Bobcats held a 5-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Choate started things off with a single up the middle.
Kristen Bodyk (Paris, Ontario, Canada) then smashed a two-run homer over the left-field fence on a 2-1 count putting PSC up 7-1 at that point. Maresh followed with a single up the middle and went to second when Massengale singled through the hole at shortstop.
Tesla Oldfield (Nebraska City) came in to run for Massengale. Both runners advanced on a ground out. Moffatt then singled to second driving in Maresh and Oldfield came home on the throw giving the Bobcats the 9-1 win as the eight-run mercy rule came into effect.
Moffatt, Choate, Maresh, and Massengale all were two for three at the plate. Bodyk was credited with two RBI on her homer.
Massengale gained her eighth win of the season throwing all five innings. Massengale gave up only three hits and one earned run while striking out seven batters.

Game Two Action
The Bobcats all but won the second game in the bottom half of the first inning as they scored seven runs. Following the first out of the inning, Hoock tripled to deep left and scored when Lyndes singled to right. Following another out, Maresh singled to shallow left with Lyndes going to third.
Alexa Johnson (Fremont) singled down the right-field line driving in Lyndes with Maresh going to third.
Abbie Moser (Lincoln) struck out, but advanced on a CSM passed ball while Johnson was stealing second, which loaded the bases.
Trista Hutchings (Cambridge, Ontario, Canada) reached base on another Flames' error allowing Maresh and Johnson both to score with Moser going to third. Then, Oldfield reached base on a second error by CSM with Moser scoring on the play. Moffatt then drove in Hutchings and Oldfield with a triple to deep right-center to end the scoring with PSC up 7-0.
CSM scored their first run in the top of the third to cut it to 7-1, but the 'Cats countered in the bottom of the inning. After the first out, Moser singled to shallow right and went to third when Hutchings singled to center. Moser scored when Oldfield laid down a sacrifice squeeze bunt. That was the only run the Bobcats could muster, but they had regained their seven-run advantage at 8-1.
The Flames did add one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings, but it was not enough as PSC prevailed 8-3.
Johnson was the lone Bobcat to get two hits in the game and drove in one. Moffatt and Hutchings were each credited with two RBI.
Lyndsay Drumm (Bennington) pitched a complete game, scattered nine hits, and gave up three runs – two of which were earned. Drumm struck out five and improved to 4-5 on the year.

Upcoming Games
This Friday, the 'Cats will travel to Omaha to take on the NCAA Division I University of Nebraska Omaha Lady Mavs in a single game beginning at 5 p.m.
A Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) double header will face the Bobcats, but this time on the road on Saturday, April 7. Peru State will travel to Baldwin City, Kan., to play the Baker University Wildcats beginning at 1 p.m.
The following week will be another busy week for the Bobcats as they are scheduled for three double headers with HAAC foes. On Wednesday, the 11th, PSC will travel to Marshall, Mo., to face the Vikings at 2 p.m. On Saturday, the 14th, the 'Cats will be on the road again, this time to Lamoni, Iowa, to take on the YellowJackets of Graceland University.
Bobcat Senior Day will be held on Sunday, April 15, when PSC hosts Avila University. Game time for the match-up with the Eagles will be noon.
