Game Two Action
The Bobcats drew first blood in the second game in the second inning. With two outs,
Tesla Oldfield (Nebraska City) reached on a walk and then stole second base, her eighth of the year. Hoock followed with a single and Oldfield went to third. Later, Oldfield scored on a wild throw, giving PSC a 1-0 lead.
That lead stood until the bottom of the fourth when GU was able to score one to tie it at 1-1.
Then, in the bottom of the fifth, Graceland came to life. The YellowJackets were able to push across six runs in the inning, including a grand slam. At the end of five, it was GU 7-1.
In the top of the sixth, PSC did add one run, but had other opportunities as they left the bases loaded. Bodyk was hit by a pitch and was replaced by pinch runner,
Casee Ford (Fort Collins, Colo.). Ford's time on base was short as
Emily Maresh (Central City) reached base on a fielder's choice and Ford was out at second.
Devin Choate (Beatrice) singled to center with Maresh advancing to second. Massengale singled to left to load the bases.
Toni Moffatt (Morden, Manitoba, Canada) reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Maresh to score. Lyndes reached on a walk, which loaded the bases for PSC, but the next batter grounded out to end the scoring threat.
That proved to be the final scoring for either team and the YellowJackets won 7-2.
Hoock, Choate, Massengale, and Moffatt each had one hit with Moffatt being credited for one RBI.
Lyndsay Drumm (Bennington) started the game for PSC and threw four innings, giving up six hits, and two earned runs. Drumm was given the loss as she was responsible for the first batter in the fifth inning for Graceland who eventually scored giving them the 2-1 lead.
Lauren Johnson (Seward) pitched one-third of an inning. Johnson gave up one hit and three earned runs. Massengale finished the game by throwing one and two-thirds innings and allowing two hits and two earned runs.
