(Peru, Neb.) – Facing three NCAA Division II teams and one Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) foe proved to be difficult for the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat Golf team when they played in the Avila Spring Invitational.
While the conditions were decent for the two-day event, the Bobcats also faced a stiff challenge, as one of their best golfers could not compete due to academic commitments. However, the team members were consistent with their scores and one team member set a 36-hold personal best, noted Bobcat head golf coach
Brett Hahn.
The Bobcats finished fifth in the five-team meet that was won by NCAA DII Northwest Missouri State University with a 647 total. Fellow DII member, Missouri Western State University, took second with a 662 total. Finishing third was the host, Avila University with a 722 score. In fourth was William Jewell College at 728 and the Bobcats were fifth at 765.
Courtney Musgrave
(Omaha) led the Bobcats with a two-day total of 182. Musgrave shot a 90 on the first day and a 92 on the second and finished 19
th overall.
Other Bobcat golfers and their respective results were: Katie Potter
(Omaha) – 89-97 for 186 – 21
st; Ellen Larsen – 99-99 for 198 – 25
th; and Jacey Stoner – 100-99 for 199 – 26
th.
For Stoner, it was her personal best as a collegiate golfer.
Peru State will be back in action when they travel on April 19 to participate in the Hastings College Spring Invitational.
The Bobcats will then be hosting their own spring invitational on Sunday and Monday, April 22 and 23, at the Table Creek Golf Course in Nebraska City. The meet both days is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
