Bobcat Volleyball Falls to Evangel

(Peru, Neb.) – It was a tough hitting night for the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat volleyball team as they finished hitting negative and lost to the host Evangel University Crusaders 25-19, 25-19, 25-19, in Springfield, Mo., on Tuesday night.
 
With the win, the Crusaders improved to 16-10 overall and 5-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC), placing them fourth in the conference standings with two games remaining in conference play.  For the Bobcats, they fall to 8-21 overall and 1-6 in the HAAC.  Like the Crusaders, PSC has two conference games remaining and still are not mathematically out of post-season play.

The Bobcats were able to keep it close despite hitting a negative 0.062 on the night. 
 
Tara Gonzalez (Lincoln) and Lindsey Nelson (Granite Bay, Calif.) each had five kills to lead Peru State.  Alicia Petak (Omaha) added four kills as PSC only managed 18 kills and had 24 attack errors.

Courtney Jurek (Bellevue) had 11 assists to lead PSC in setting.  Jurek also added one service ace.  In addition, Angie Bowers (Alda), Becky Boshart (Wood River), and Emily Maresh (Central City) each had one service ace.
 
Maresh was the only Bobcat in double figures with 18 digs.  Jurek contributed six digs.
 
Brittany Peterson (Orem, Utah) had four block assists to lead PSC in that category.  Carrie Lierz (Holton, Kan.) added three block assists while Petak and Gonzalez each added two.

Upcoming Games
 
The Bobcats will host their Dig Pink Day this coming Saturday, Oct. 20, when they host Central Methodist University.   The Eagles are 7-19 overall and 0-7 in the HAAC, just one game behind Peru State.   This is the final home game for the Bobcats.  Prior to the game, the College will recognize the team's parents and their seniors.
