Balanced Baker Effort Tops PSC Women

(Peru, Neb.) – Despite having three players in double figures, the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat women's basketball team could not overcome an even-more balanced Baker University (BU) performance, which saw five players finish in double digits.

Baker defeated the Bobcats on their home court 84-66 to improve to 3-12 for the season and 1-3 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC).  The 'Cats still are looking for their first win and now are 0-16 overall and 0-4 in the HAAC.

 Game Action

The Bobcats scored the first bucket of the game when Jasmine Lockwood (Sunrise, Fla.) put in a short shot on the assist from Courtney Ward (Bartlesville, Okla.).    That would be the only lead PSC would have in the game, but this did tie it up four times with the final tie coming at 10-10 with 12:56 left in the first half.

After that point, the Wildcats went on a 27-15 run giving them a 12-point lead, their largest of the half with 4:07 left in the first 20 minutes.  Peru State would eventually cut it back to a nine-point deficit at halftime with Katie Potter making one of two free throws with seven ticks left in the half.  At halftime, Baker led 43-34.

The teams played pretty even through the first eight-plus minutes of the half with the Wildcats still leading 58-50 with 11:30 left in the game.  That was as close as the Bobcats would get as Baker stretched their lead ending up with an 18-point win.
