(Peru, Neb.) – Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat softball and baseball players recently earned additional recognition for their play on the field through the Omaha World-Herald.
Softball players Ashley Wohlers (Papillion) and Samantha Walker (Peyton, Colo.) were named to the Omaha World-Herald's NAIA Softball Squad as announced on Wednesday. Wohlers was selected as the best second baseman in the NAIA while leading the Bobcats in hitting last year as a freshman with a .379 average. Walker, a sophomore, earned her recognition as a utility player. She finished the season ranked 18th in the NAIA in total doubles with 18.
Earning honorable mention for softball were junior Lyndsay Drumm (Bennington), sophomore Emily Maresh (Central City), senior Alyssa Mangum (Nebraska City), and senior Krista Patton (Nebraska City).
No Bobcat baseball player was placed on the first team by the paper. Earning honorable mention for the 'Cats were junior Jonathan Castillo (Paterson, N.J.), and seniors Alejandro Gonzalez (Valencia, Venz.), Andre Kinder (Albion, N.Y.), Pat Knabe (Lincoln), and Matt Martin (Omaha).
