(Peru, Neb.) – While playing their third straight Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) foe in a row, unfortunately for the Peru State College (PSC) men's basketball team, the result was the same.
The Bobcats traveled to Sioux City, Iowa, on Monday, Nov. 5, and fell to the home-standing Briar Cliff University (BCU) Chargers 67-52. This was the third straight loss of the 'Cats who are now 0-3 while the Chargers improved to 3-0 for the year.

The Chargers grabbed a 4-0 lead before Derrick Williams
(St. Joseph, Mo.) hit a layup with 16:45 to go in the first half cutting the lead to 4-2.
Peru State had just two leads in the game with the first lead coming at 14:05 as Kevin Tighe
(North Platte) hit a trey at the 14:05 mark putting PSC up 9-7. Briar Cliff regained the lead by scoring the next seven points before the 'Cats started to make a little comeback.
Another layup by Williams at 6:37 put PSC up 18-17, but 12 seconds later, the Chargers took the lead for good on a layup. By the end of the half, BCU led 32-24.
The beginning of the second half saw the Chargers scoring the first six points stretching their lead to 38-24 before Peter Knudson
(Vanloese, Denmark) hit a free throw with 13:54 to go ending a seven-minute second half scoring drought by the Bobcats.
Peru State never could get the game back to single digits for the rest of the half while BCU led by as many as 18 points before winning by a 15-point margin.
Team Statistics
Both teams were cooler than the temperature outside on a rainy November night. The Chargers shot only 37.1% for the game with PSC finishing at 29.8%. The Bobcats made 17 of 57 field goal attempts, but shot better from behind the arc making five of 16 tries for 31.3%.
At the free throw line, both teams shot over 81%. PSC was 13 of 16 for 81.3% while BCU was slightly better canning 18 of 22 for 81.8%.
The Chargers outrebounded Peru State 47-38 and forced 20 Bobcat turnovers while committing 17. PSC had seven shots blocked while swatting away five BCU attempts.
Individual Statistics
For the third straight game, PSC was led in scoring by Williams who finished with 15 points on six of 12 shooting from the floor, including one three-pointer, and two for two from the line. Williams also grabbed four rebounds and had two steals.
Dorian Williams
(Bronx, N.Y.) added ten points on four of 11 shooting and was four of six from the line. Williams added three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
One more Bobcat was in double figures. Eric Donald
(Omaha), a freshman from Creighton Prep H.S., made two of seven from the field, both three-pointers, and was four of four 4 from the line for ten points. Donald also had four rebounds, one steal, and one assist.
Richard Oppitz
(Topeka, Kan.) took game-high honors in both rebounding and blocked shots as he finished with 13 rebounds and four blocks. Oppitz finished the game with six points.

Upcoming Games
Peru State will be traveling to Baldwin City, Kan., this coming Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11 and 12, to participate in the HAAC/KCAC Classic. On Friday, the Bobcats will be facing Ottawa College (Kan.) at 5:30 p.m. Then, on Saturday, PSC will take on the University of Saint Mary (Kan.) at 1 p.m.
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, PSC will go south again to face Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan. at 7:30 p.m.
Nov. 18 and 19 will find the Bobcats hosting their own Peru State College Classic. On Friday, PSC will play York College at 7:30 p.m. Grace University will be the 'Cats opponent at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Also on the 18
th, Park University will take on Grace at 5:30 p.m. and then will play York on Saturday at 3 p.m.
