For many in Nebraska, the Ritchie name will ring a bell for many basketball aficionados.
Ritchie, who lives in Nebraska City, brings 37 years of coaching experience to the staff, with 30 of those years spent as a head high school coach in Nebraska. He has coached primarily in southeast Nebraska as he started as an assistant coach in Pawnee City. His head high school coaching positions included stops in Falls City, Elkhorn, and Nebraska City. He was also an assistant coach in Auburn.
His successes during those 30 years included three Eastern Midlands Conference (EMC) Championships, three EMC runner-ups, one district championship, and four district runner-ups.
He was also an assistant coach at Nebraska Wesleyan during two NCAA Division III Final Four runs under head coach Jerry Schmutte. Ritchie also has familiarity with Peru State, as he spent a year on campus as the women’s golf coach and his son Monte served as a graduate assistant for two years with the Bobcat program.
