Sean Wilkerson is in his fourth season as Defensive Coordinator for the Bobcats.
In 2025, his unit produced four Heart of America All-Conference selections: Zahir Washington (1st Team DL), Duke McClinton (1st Team DB), Ja-Quez Oliver (2nd Team LB), and Gavin Dunkel (Honorable Mention DL). He also coached the Heart North Freshman of the Year for the third year in a row.
Across his tenure, the defenses have generated a defensive player of the year, national player of the week, 20 all-conference selections, back-to-back Heart Freshman of the Year winners, and an 2x NAIA All-American. In 2022 and 2023, defensive lineman Devin Adams played under Wilkerson before moving on to the Canadian Football League. During the 2024 season, Peru State led the conference in interceptions and punt blocks.
Wilkerson is a nationally recognized recruiter and has coached numerous all-conference performers at multiple levels.
Before arriving at Peru State, he coached linebackers at Butler Community College from August 2020 to July 2022, where he produced two All-KJCCC selections in Quae Drake and Malik Berry during the spring 2021 season.
A native of Warner Robins, Georgia, Wilkerson’s previous coaching stops include Southwestern Oklahoma State University (NCAA Division II), West Franklin High School, Piper High School, and Middle Georgia State University, where he contributed to a South Atlantic Conference championship.
As a player, Wilkerson competed at San Diego Mesa College before transferring to Ottawa University (KS). He helped Ottawa win KCAC titles in 2011 and 2012 and earned All-KCAC honors as a wide receiver in 2012.
Wilkerson holds a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ottawa University.
