(Peru, Ne.)- The Peru State College volleyball team defeated Heart of America Athletic Conference foe Graceland in straight sets during the Going Gold game sponsored by Angels Among Us. The Bobcats took down the Yellowjackets with a scoreline of 25-13, 25-10, and 25-18.

Set one opened to an 8-0 Bobcat explosion that was highlighted by three service aces from Teodora Bulatovic (Tivat, Montenegro. / SMŠ "Mladost" Tivat) and continued the push as the lead was stretched to 11 (15-4). After some back and forth scoring, the Yellowjackets scored four straight in attempts to spark a comeback but an 8-3 run handed the opening set to Peru State 25-13.

The second set began with The Bobcats tearing into a 14-1 advantage and never looking back as after a 3-0 spurt by Graceland, runs of 5-3 and 6-2 let Peru State run away with set two 25-10.

The Yellowjackets pushed back to start the third set as a 6-3 stretch would deliver Graceland their first lead of the game, until a 5-1 run by the Bobcats which was capped off by back-to-back Addison Schneider (Humphrey, Nebraska. / Humphrey High School) kills took the lead 8-7. Neither team could pull away in a 14-point series which had four ties until a 6-0 shove by Peru State built a seven-point advantage (21-14). A 3-2 series in favor of the Bobcats would take the set to match point (24-18) and after two straight points by Graceland, a Shealie Wiebers (Papillion, Nebraska. / Papillion-La Vista High School) kill shut down the set and won the game 25-18.

Offensively Wiebers led the pack with eight kills from a .429 clip while Eden Moore (Eagle, Nebraska. / Waverly High School) followed close behind with seven and Chancie Deaton (Payson, Arizona. / Payson High School) and Schneider botch logged six, Bulatovic paced the game with 17 assists and Samantha Chesley (Lincoln, Nebraska. / Pius X High School) put up 12.
