(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State volleyball team put up a strong fight on Saturday afternoon but came up short in a four-set battle with Benedictine (KS), falling 19-25, 25-12, 30-32, 20-25 at the Al Wheeler Activity Center.
After dropping the opening set, the Bobcats responded with authority in the second, hitting an impressive .485 as a team while holding the Ravens to just 12 points. Peru State continued to battle in a marathon third set, but despite pushing past set point multiple times, Benedictine narrowly escaped with the 32-30 win. The visitors then used a late run in the fourth to close out the match.
Eden Moore led the Bobcat attack with 19 kills on an efficient .500 hitting percentage.
Addison Schneider added 10 kills while hitting .346 and contributing three blocks.
Kalolaine Pasikala chipped in 11 kills and two blocks, and
Kennedy Miller posted eight kills with three block assists.
Defensively,
Shealie Wiebers anchored the back row with 24 digs, while
Braelyn Braithwaite recorded 25 digs of her own. Setter Sami Chesley dished out 31 assists and added 11 digs to notch a double-double.
As a team, Peru State finished with 57 kills, 97 digs, and seven total blocks.
