Softball Drops Two vs Benedictine

(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Softball Team fell to (RV) Benedictine in their two games on Wednesday afternoon. The Bobcats are now 2-6 in the Heart of America Conference and 5-20 overall.

Game 1 (Peru State 0 – Benedictine 5)

The Ravens took a quick lead in the third inning as the Bobcats struggled to close the gap. Ellie Ohlde provided the lone hit for the Bobcats in the contest, while Leann Hawkins showed patience at the plate, drawing two walks. However, the team's offense was largely stifled by the Ravens' pitching.

On the mound, Sage Issacs started for Peru State and delivered a solid performance, allowing just four hits over her outing. Sydney Chubbuck came in as relief and continued to battle, striking out three batters in her appearance.

Game 2 (Peru State 4 – Benedictine 5)

The Bobcats recorded six hits during the game. In the fourth inning, the Bobcats got on the board with a sacrifice ground out from Kaelyn Hamblen, which allowed Ellie Ohlde to score. The Bobcats added another run in the sixth when Maci Green singled, sending Kaylee Harsh across home plate. In the seventh inning, Jami Mans attempted to close the gap with a two-run single, but the rally fell short as Benedictine held on to the lead.

On the mound, Emily Vanatta started for Peru State, delivering a solid performance. She allowed only four hits, but the Bobcats' offense couldn't quite find their rhythm.
