Baseball Takes One from (RV) Bellevue

(Peru, Neb)- The Peru State Baseball team played a 4 game series against the (RV) Bellevue Bruins in a nonconference matchup on Friday and Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats are now 10-18 overall.
 
Game 1 (Peru State 1 – Bellevue 6)
 
The Bobcats struggled to gain momentum against the Bruins' strong defense and pitching. Despite the setbacks, individual performances shone through as Antonio Benitez scored for  Peru State after hitting a single to left field to get on base. Additionally, Joshua Schaller contributed with an RBI, highlighting some offensive efforts from the team. The Bobcats had eight hits overall with Benitez and Jackson Lynch each having two. Gustavo Rivera, Jomar Perez and Xavier Solla each added a hit.

Starting pitcher K. Diaz took the mound for the Bobcats, having five strikeouts and only allowing four earned runs.
 
Game 2 (Peru State 0 – Bellevue 12)
 
The game saw Bellevue taking a lead early on, making it hard for the Bobcats to close the gap. Starting pitcher C. Ogden took the mound for Peru State, having five strikeouts against the Bruins. The Bobcats had four hits with Antonio Benitez, Jomar Perez, Garrett Pavletich and Diego Rivera each having one.  
 
Game 3 (Peru State 6 – Bellevue 2)
 
The Bobcats were led by standout performances from several key players. Jomar Perez, Gustavo Rivera, and Jaled Mercader each contributed vital home runs to the team's success. Perez and Rivera also added multiple hits and RBIs, with Rivera notching two hits and two RBIs. Additional support came from Jackson Lynch and Airam Betancour, helping to solidify the lead with their runs. Jaled Mercader, another notable player, made significant contributions with a home run and two RBIs. The Bobcats showcased their power at the plate with a total of three home runs in the game.

On the mound, starting pitcher Blake Denson delivered a commendable performance in all seven innings, having seven strikeouts and allowing only five hits and two runs in the game.  
 
Game 4 (Peru State 8 – Bellevue 12)
 
The Bobcats saw noteworthy performances from their players, with Antonio Benitez driving in 3 runs, hitting a home run, and managing an RBI. Gustavo Rivera also made a substantial impact with a grand slam, 4 RBIs, and his notable contribution in the game's key moments. Josh Schaller was another highlight for the team, contributing 3 RBIs, a home run, and a double. The game's momentum shifted in the second inning when Bellevue scored 5 runs. However, the Bobcats showcased their fighting spirit in the fourth inning by scoring 4 runs.

Starting pitcher G. Pavletich faced a tough Bellevue lineup, having two strikeouts. He allowed only seven hits and nine runs.
 
Next: The Bobcats will be back in Peru on March 29th and 30th to play the Mount Mercy. The games will be at 1:00 and 3:30 each day.
