Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Defeats Clarke for the First Time since 2017

(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State women's basketball team surged past Clarke with a dominant fourth quarter, securing a 73–64 win on Saturday afternoon inside the AWAC. The victory moves the Bobcats to 6–4 on the season and a perfect 3–0 in Heart Conference play.

The game opened with both teams trading baskets, ending the first quarter knotted at 21–21. Peru State found its rhythm defensively in the second, holding Clarke to just 11 points while building a 36–32 halftime advantage. However, foul trouble and turnovers slowed the Bobcats in the third frame, allowing the Pride to claw back and briefly retake the lead as Peru State managed only eight points in the period.

The fourth quarter belonged entirely to the Bobcats. Peru State exploded for 29 points in the final 10 minutes—its highest-scoring quarter of the season—to flip the momentum and close out the conference win. The defense also stepped up, forcing key turnovers and protecting the paint as the game slipped away from Clarke.

Erison Vonderschmidt powered the Bobcats with an impressive double-double, posting 18 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists while shooting 6-of-11 from the field. Katelyn Sanders added 13 points, knocking down a pair of threes and going 3-for-6 at the line, while Kylie Diaz was strong on both ends with 12 points, five rebounds, and four blocks. Dakota Haner delivered 10 points—including two big threes in the fourth—and Savannah Bingham chipped in nine points and eight rebounds.

Peru State shot 44.4 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc while outrebounding Clarke 31–30. The Bobcats also tallied 12 steals and eight blocks, using their defense to generate 21 points off Clarke's turnovers.
