(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State women's basketball team battled early but ultimately fell to undefeated Briar Cliff, 88–58, on Wednesday night inside the Al Wheeler Activity Center.
The Bobcats hung tight through the opening quarter, trailing just 19–16 after 10 minutes behind strong interior scoring from Kylie Diaz, who opened the game with nine first-quarter points. Peru State continued to compete through the second quarter, heading into halftime down 46–37 after Erison Vonderschmidt and Katelyn Sanders provided needed sparks offensively.
Diaz led the Bobcats with 17 points and five rebounds, while Sanders added nine points on 4-of-9 shooting, and Vonderschmidt chipped in nine points, three rebounds, and two assists. Tiara Dodd made a strong late push with nine points and four boards, while Savannah Bingham controlled the glass with a team-high eight rebounds.
