(Wichita, Kan.)- The Peru State Men's Basketball team fell to the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles on Friday Night, 65-83, in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament. The Bobcats completed their season 20-12 overall and 13-11 in the Heart of America Tournament.
The Bobcats had a slow start in the first half of the match up as the Eagles took a 14-point lead. With multiple shots from
Ajantae Hogan and
Carlos Hines, the Bobcats found their way back and closed Eagles lead to only two points. The Bobcats fought through the rest of the half, but the Eagles led 41-33 going into halftime.
Ajantae Hogan opened the second half with a three pointer. Throughout the half, the Bobcats battled through the Eagles strong offense, getting five blocks on Eagle shots.
Ajantae Hogan tallied 13 points in the second half. The Eagles were able to pull away and take the win 83-65.
Ajantae Hogan led the team with 28 points, two rebounds and two assists against the Eagles.
David Wingett Jr. had 13 points, five rebounds, two steals and a block for the Bobcats with
Carlos Hines having 10 points with four rebounds, one steal and one block.
Ty Griggs had six points and one rebound with
Sayvon Traylor being close behind with five points but adding three rebounds.
