(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Men's Basketball team fell to the Baker Wildcats,76-78, on Wednesday night in the last seconds of the game in Baldwin City, Kansas. The Bobcats are now 12-11 in the Heart of America Conference and 16-11 Overall.
Sayvon Traylor started out the game for the Bobcats making a three which was followed by a layup from
David Wingett Jr. The Bobcats and Wildcats went back and forth throughout the first half, not letting either team take a big lead.
Ajantae Hogan had the final three of the halves for the Bobcats as they went into halftime up 36-34.
Sayvon Traylor had eleven points with
Amir Poat having six rebounds in the first half.
In the second half, the Bobcats fought hard as they went back and forth with the Wildcats with neither team being able to get a lead by over five points. The Bobcats were down five with 0:22 on the clock as a layup by
Carlos Hines began to close the gap.
Sayvon Traylor had the final points for the Bobcats with a made three with only seconds left in the game leaving the Bobcats only down two. Defense by the Wildcats were able to stop the Bobcats as Baker took the win 78-72.
David Wingett Jr. led the Bobcats with 19 points and four rebounds.
Sayvon Traylor had 16 points and three rebounds for the Bobcats.
Ajantae Hogan had 14 points and three rebounds while
Carlos Hines having 10 points with four rebounds and three assists.
Amir Poat had 15 rebounds with three assists against the Wildcats.
The Bobcats will return home on Saturday, February 24th to take on Clarke University and celebrate the basketball seniors. Tipoff is set for 2:00 PM.
