(Canton, MO)- The Peru State Men's Basketball defeated the Culver- Stockton Wildcats, 77-75, in the final three seconds on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats are now 8-9 in the Heart of America Conference and 12-9 Overall.
In the first half of play, the Bobcats started off with a good jumper from Christian Tidiane. The Bobcats went back and forth with the Wildcats until they pulled a short lead. The Wildcats were able to close the gap, but the Bobcats made sure to keep the game close. Sayvon Traylor had the final layup for the Bobcats in the half as they trailed the Wildcats 31-37 going into halftime.
Coming out of halftime, back-to-back 3-pointers by Carlos Hines evened out the score once again. The Wildcats took back the lead and got their lead up to nine, but the Bobcats weren't done fighting. A 3-pointer by Sayvon Traylor put the score to 61-60 for the Bobcats with 7:44 on the clock. The teams went back and forth down to the final seconds. The Wildcats tied up the game at 75-75 with only 0:22 on the clock. With the Bobcats having the last shot, they looked to Carlos Hines to take the final shot with 0:03 left. Hines was fouled on a 3-pointer and with two free throws, the Bobcats took the win 77-75.
Sayvon Traylor led the team with 23 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Carlos Hines had 21 points for the Bobcats, adding five rebounds and three blocks. Ajantae Hogan had 16 points and eight rebounds against the Wildcats. Christian Tidiane had seven points and eight rebounds with Mathew Wingett having six points and two rebounds.
