(Peru, Neb.)—The Peru State men's basketball season came to end Wednesday, March 8, losing in the second round of the NAIA National Tournament to the No. 3 seed Jamestown Jimmies 95-88 in Jamestown, ND.
The Peru State men's basketball team finishes the season 25-8. The 25 wins are tied for second for most wins in program history.
Below is a breakdown of how the game went…
Jamestown got off to a hot start as they were leading 8-2 early in the first. Peru State then cut the lead down to four after
Lorenzo Anderson (Lithonia, Ga.) hit a bucket to make the score 14-10.
The Jimmies then took a 17-10 lead, before the Bobcats went on their first big run of the game. Peru State went on an 11-0 run to take a 21-17 lead with around 12 minutes to go in the first half.

David Wingett Jr. (Winnebago), buckets by
Jibril Harris (Chicago),
Man Man Baker (Aurora, Colo.), Anderson and free throws from Harris.
The Jimmies and the Bobcats then went back-and-forth for the next few minutes as Jamestown regained the lead up 24-23. The Jimmies then went on a 9-0 run to take a ten point 33-23 lead.
The Bobcats were able to cut the lead down to eight several times in the final few minutes of the first half. Ultimately, the Bobcats would trail the Jimmies 47-37 at the break.
The Jimmies came out on fire in the second half with a 12-2 run to take a 20-point 59-39 lead five minutes into the second. Peru State did not give up though as they chipped away at the lead.
The Bobcats went on a quick 7-2 run to cut the deficit down to 15 trailing 61-46 with just under 13 minutes to play in the game. Later in the second half the Bobcats had cut the lead down to 12 72-60 after Wingett hit a three-pointer.
Baker got the game to within single digits with a layup as the score sat at 74-66 with seven minutes to play in the second half. The Bobcats late in the second half were able to get the score within one possession after Baker made a bucket to make the score 81-78 with under four minutes to play.
Peru State had a chance to tie the game with the ball down three and then a turnover and a three on the other end made it a six point game 84-78 with three minutes to play.
The Bobcats would not get any closer than that all night as Peru State fell 95-88 to Jamestown.
Peru State shot 32-of-64 from the field shooting 50%, 7-of-18 from deep shooting 38.9% and 17-of-22 from the charity stripe shooting 77.3%.
Jamestown shot 34-of-64 from the field shooting 53.1%, 12-of-27 from beyond the arc shooting 44.4% and 15-of-20 from the line shooting 75%.
Peru State outscored Jamestown 48-40 in the paint, Jamestown outscored Peru State 8-1 in bench points and 15-8 in second chance points.
All five starters were in double figures. Baker led the way with 20 points, Anderson finished with 19, Houghton had 17, Wingett Jr. had 16 and Harris had 15. Baker finished with a double-double with a team-high ten rebounds. Baker also had a team high five assists.
