(Peru, Neb.)—The Peru State women's basketball team fell on the road to Missouri Valley College 79-60 on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats fall to 9-17 overall and 5-15 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play while the Vikings improve to 15-11 overall and 11-9 in conference play.

It was another low scoring first five minutes as the Bobcats trailed by one 5-4 after
Jescenia Mosley (Shenandoah, Iowa) put in a layup. Missouri Valley then went on a 5-0 run to take a six point 10-4 lead with under five minutes to play in the first.
Hailey Ingram (Omaha) hit a three of her own as the Bobcats were back within three down 10-7. That's as close as the Bobcats would get in the first quarter. The Vikings went on a 14-4 run in the waning stages of the quarter as they were up 24-11.
Maddy Duncan (
Hamburg, Iowa) made a layup before the horn of the first quarter as Peru State trailed 24-13.
Missouri Valley opened up the second quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 18-point 31-13 lead. Ingram stopped the run with a layup. The Vikings then went on a 7-2 run to take a 38-17 lead with under three minutes remaining in the first half.
Peru State ended the first half on a high note on an 8-2 run as they went into the half trailing 40-25. Contributing to the run were baskets by Ingram, Sam Stewart
(Mount Ayr, Iowa) and
Josiee Sobotka (Tobias).
The Bobcats ended up on a 10-2 run in between the end of the first and the beginning of the second half capped off by a
Kaylan Larry (Little Rock, Ark.) jumper.
Missouri Valley then got the lead back out to 18 up 45-27 with around seven minutes to play in the third quarter. Ingram then cut the lead back down to 15 with a three-point basket of her own.
The Vikings then hit back-to-back threes as their lead ballooned out to 21-points up 51-30 with 5:22 to play in the third quarter.
Natasha Deal (Winnebago) had a great second half as she started with back-to-back three-point buckets as Peru State was trailing 53-36 in the third quarter.
Peru State a little later in the third quarter was able to cut the lead back down to 15 after Mosley made a shot from beyond the arc as the Bobcats were trailing 55-40. Missouri Valley was up 57-42 heading into the final quarter of play.
The Bobcats and the Vikings traded baskets for the first few minutes of the fourth as the Vikings had a 19-point lead up 65-46. Peru State then went on a quick 5-1 run to cut the Viking lead to 15 after a couple of free throws from Deal.
Unfortunately, the Bobcats could never cut the lead down into single digits and fell to the Vikings for the second time this season.
Peru State shot 22-of-68 from the field shooting 32.4%, 5-of-19 from beyond the arc shooting 26.3% and 11-of-15 from the charity stripe shooting 73.3%.
Missouri Valley shot 30-of-60 from the field shooting 50%, 9-of-21 from deep shooting 42.9% and 10-of-15 from the line shooting 66.7%.
Missouri Valley outscored Peru State 36-12 in the paint, 12-9 in points off turnovers and Peru State outscored Missouri Valley 36-7 off the bench.
Deal led the Bobcats with 17 points, Ingram finished with 12 points and Larry put in nine.
Julie Miller (Easton, Kan.) led the team in rebounds with seven. Larry had a team-high four assists.
Peru State returns home for Senior Night against Clarke on Wednesday, February 15. Tip-Off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
