Women’s Basketball Falls to Missouri Valley at Home

(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Women's Basketball Team fell to the Missouri Valley Vikings at home on Saturday, December 9th, 78-92. The Bobcats are now 1-6 in the Heart of America Conference and 4-7 overall.

In the first quarter, the Bobcats went point for point with the Vikings. A layup from Olivia Williams (Sr., Minneapolis, MN) started out the score for the Bobcats followed by a jumpshot by Hailey Ingram (Jr., Omaha, NE). Final free throws from Maddy Duncan helped the Bobcats stay close as they were only down two going into the second quarter with a score of 17-19.
 
Kylie Diaz (Fr., Albertville, MN) had a big second quarter scoring eight points for the Bobcats. Kaylan Larry (Sr., Little Rock, AR) was just behind with six points.  The Bobcats had eight points off turnovers and 20 points in the paint as they were able to pull ahead of the Viking with a score of 46-34 going into half.
 
Samantha Stewart (Sr., Mount Ayr, IA) started the second half with a made layup followed by a layup by Hailey Ingram. The Bobcats fought throughout the quarter but even with their efforts and Ingram's seven points during the quarter, the Vikings were able to pull away with a lead 65-61.
 
In the final quarter of the game, Natasha Deal (Jr., Winnebago, NE) started with a good jumper with Samantha Stewart following with a layup. Stewart had a big fourth quarter with eight points but even though the Bobcats never gave up, the Vikings took the win 92-78.
 
Samantha Stewart led the Bobcats with 20 points, three rebounds and two steals. Hailey Ingram was close behind with 19 points, and three steals. Kylie Diaz had 15 points with six rebounds for the Bobcats. Kaylan Larry tallied eight points and six rebounds with Olivia Williams having seven points and three rebounds.
