Men’s Basketball Defeats Grand View in Exciting Matchup

(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Men's Basketball team defeated the Grand View Vikings 104-87 at home in the AWAC on November 29th. The Bobcats are now 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the Heart of America Conference.
 
The Bobcats had a hot start in the first half with a layup by Christian Tidiane (Jr., Council Bluffs, IA) to start the game followed by seven made three pointers before the ten minute mark. DeAndre Johns (Jr., Kenosha, WI) had back to back layups followed by a 3-pointer by Sayvon Traylor (Sr., Atlanta, GA) and a dunk by David Wingett Jr. (Sr., Winnebago, NE). to help the Bobcats push their lead against the Vikings. A final 3-pointer by DeAndre Johns ended the first half as the Bobcats led 59-44. The Bobcats made nine 3-pointers in the first half with Sayvon Traylor tallying 17 points for the Bobcats and David Wingett Jr. adding six rebounds in the half.
 
In the second half, the Bobcats continued to push back against the Vikings. Layups by Christian Tidiane and Sayvon Traylor started out the half. The Vikings couldn't seem to find a way to stop the Bobcats as multiple shots by Sayvon Traylor and Christian Tidiane kept pushing the Bobcats lead.  Ty Griggs (Jr., Omaha, NE) had a thriller breakaway dunk for the Bobcats. A layup from Amir Poat (Jr., Rasht, Iran) sealed the deal for the Bobcats as they took the win 104-87.
 
Sayvon Traylor led the team with 29 points also adding four rebounds and two assists. David Wingett jr had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Bobcats with Christian Tidiane being just behind tallying 14 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. DeAndre Johns had 16  points with four rebounds for the Bobcats and AJ Richard had 13 points with five rebounds against the Vikings.
 
Next: The Bobcats will travel to Fayette, MO, to take on the Central Methodist Eagles. Tipoff is set for 4:00 PM. Go Bobcats!
