(Peru, Neb.)—On Monday, October 2, the NAIA, and the Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Players of the Week. Ashley Thompson (Springfield, Ga.) was named NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week and Heart Big Game Football Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Thompson had 3 interceptions totaling 77 return yards, including two of which were pick six's. In the final score of the game, he had a 6-yard interception putting the bobcats up 48-24. Thompson also had 7 total tackles in the Bobcat's win against Missouri Valley on Saturday night. This is Peru State's second NAIA Player of the Week and Heart Big Game Football Player of the Week of the 2023 season.
 
Peru State takes on Graceland University next Saturday, October 14th, at the Oak Bowl. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
