(Peru, Neb.)—On Saturday afternoon the Peru State women's basketball team fell to Grandview 82-62. The Vikings improve to 22-6 overall and 14-3 in conference play, The Bobcats fall 10-15 overall and 5-11 in conference play.
The first quarter started out rough for the Bobcats as the Vikings would start the game on a 15-2 run in the first six minutes of action.
Julie Miller (Easton, Kan.) and
Maddy Duncan (Hamburg, Iowa) were the only two Bobcats with a field goal in the first quarter.
Hailey Ingram (Omaha) would add a pair of free throws, but the Vikings had a commanding 22-7 lead heading into quarter two.
After a three pointer from the Vikings to go up 21, the Bobcats went on an 8-2 run cutting the lead to 11. In the middle part of the second quarter the Vikings and Bobcats would trade buckets, but the Bobcats could not get on another run to trim the lead further. The Vikings took a 36-21 lead into the break.
After the half, the teams would continue to trade buckets for the first three minutes of the third quarter. The Bobcats then went on a 5-0 run cutting the lead down to 13, 45-32 from a three-point shot by Duncan with 5:25 to play in the quarter.
In the latter stages of the third quarter the Vikings began to pull away and took the 58-41 lead going into the final quarter of play. In the fourth quarter the Vikings got the lead up to 20 points early, but then the Bobcats would cut the lead back down to fourteen 64-50 from a couple of
Samantha Stewart (Mount Ayr, Iowa) jumpers.
The Bobcats were able to cut the lead down to thirteen on a couple more occasions but could not get the lead down to single digits. Unfortunately, the Bobcats ultimately fell to the Vikings 82-62.

Ian Holleran said about the loss.
"Today was a tough game for us," said Holleran. "Grand View is a great team and they outplayed us."
Holleran continued
"We have really emphasized playing complete games and unfortunately we didn't do that today. All we can do is learn from this and do whatever we can to get a win Monday."
The Bobcats shot 21-of-61 from the field, shooting 34.4%, while the Vikings shot 30-of-67 for 44.8%. The Bobcats had an afternoon to forget from three as they were 3-of-14 shooting 21.4%, the Vikings shot 9-of-26 from beyond the arc good for 34.6%. Both teams went to free throw line a fair amount as the Bobcats were 17-of-26 shooting 65.4%, the Vikings shot 13-of-18 shooting 72.2%.
Three Bobcats scored in double figures on Saturday, leading the way was Duncan with 20 as she continues her impressive freshman season, Ingram and Stewart finished with 15 apiece. Miller nearly had a double-double as she put in eight points and nine boards.
Peru State will have a quick reset as they are on the road Valentines Day to take on Missouri Valley College tip is at 5:30 p.m.
