(Peru, Neb.)—The Peru State women's basketball lost to Missouri Valley College 79-59 Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats fall to 4-5 overall and 0-3 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play while the Vikings improve to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

The Bobcats and the Vikings traded baskets back-and-forth in the early going of the first quarter as it was tied 7-7 after a
Maddy Duncan (Hamburg, Iowa) made free throw. Missouri Valley then went on a 10-0 run to take a 17-7 lead with around two minutes to go in the first quarter.
A jumper by Sam Stewart
(Mount Ayr, Iowa) would stop the run but the Bobcats would trail by eight 19-11 at the end of the first quarter. Early in the second quarter the Vikings would get out to an 11 point lead up 24-13.
The Bobcats would cut the lead down to eight after three points by
Olivia Williams (Minneapolis, Minn.) Missouri Valley hit a three right away to get the lead back out to 11.
The Vikings were leading 29-18, then the Bobcats went on a 7-2 run to cut the lead down to six trailing 31-25. Contributing to the run were buckets by Duncan and
Jescenia Mosley (Shenandoah, Iowa) and a three by Duncan.
Missouri Valley then hit a three on the next possession to regain a double-digit lead. Later in the second quarter
Hailey Ingram (Omaha) cut the lead down to eight after a layup as the Bobcats trailed 37-29.
No team could score for almost the final three minutes of the half but then Missouri Valley hit a three to go up 40-29. Peru State trailed 40-31 at the half.
The Vikings went on an 8-2 run to open the second half as they led 48-33. The Bobcats then cut the lead down to seven after a layup from Duncan trailing 48-41. Each time Peru State cut the Missouri Valley lead they would hit a three.
The Vikings were up 51-41, then Duncan cut the lead down to eight with a layup and
Kaylan Larry (Little Rock, Ark.) would have a layup of her own to cut it down to six. The Vikings then hit a three to go back up nine and would end the third quarter on a 10-4 run leading 61-49 with a quarter to play.
Neither team could score for the first two minutes of the final quarter but then the Vikings knocked down a shot from deep leading 64-49. Peru State then cut into the Missouri Valley lead after layups by Larry and Williams and free throws by Mosley to make the score 64-55 with just over six minutes to play.
Missouri Valley went on a 12-0 run in the final five minutes of the game to take a 76-55 lead with under a minute left to play. The Vikings went onto beat the Bobcats 79-59.
Peru State was 22-of-68 from the field shooting 32.4%, 1-of-12 from three shooting 8.3% and 14-of-17 from the line shooting 82.4%.
Missouri Valley shot 28-of-61 from the field shooting 45.9%, 11-of-31 from beyond the arc shooting 35.5% and 12-of-16 from the charity stripe shooting 75%.
Peru State had 30 points in the paint to Missouri Valley's 28. The Vikings outscored the Bobcats 22-17 on the bench. Missouri Valley had 13 second chance points to Peru State's eight and Peru State had 16 points off turnovers to Missouri Valley's 15.
Williams led the way in points with 13, Duncan followed behind with 12, Larry and Stewart each had ten apiece. Williams led the way on the boards with eight.
Peru State travels to face Mount Mercy on Wednesday, December 7. Tip-Off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
