(Peru, Neb.)—The Peru State women's basketball competed in its first exhibition match this season against in-state NCAA Division I opponent Omaha. They fell 91-60 at the Sapp Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

In the beginning minutes of the first quarter the Bobcats hung tough with the Mavericks as they were down just two 10-8 early after a jump shot by Sam Stewart
(Mount Ayr, Iowa). Omaha then flexed its muscle as they went on a 16-2 run to take a 26-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Peru State scored the first five points in the second quarter after a three by Olivia Williams
(Minneapolis, Minn.) and a layup by Kaylan Larry
(Little Rock, Ark.) to make the score 26-15.
A little later in the second quarter the Bobcats cut the Maverick lead to 12 as Maddy Duncan
(Hamburg, Iowa) splashed in a three. Peru State even cut the lead down to 11 after Jescenia Mosley
(Shenandoah, Iowa) hit a three as they trailed 32-21.
The Bobcats would cut down to single digits once in the second quarter after a made free throw by Duncan. Omaha then went on a 7-0 run as it stretched its lead back out to 16 leading 43-27.
Layups by Stewart and Mosley and a couple of free throws by Duncan had the deficit back down to ten as the Bobcats trailed 43-33 after a 6-0 run. Omaha would stretch its lead to 14 at the break as they were up 49-35. Peru State outscored Omaha 25-23 in the second quarter.
Early in the third quarter the Bobcats hung around the 14-point deficit mark with a few layups by Stewart as they trailed 53-39. Then Omaha went on a 14-2 run to take a 69-41 lead late in the third quarter.
The Bobcats were able to cut the lead to 20 in the fourth quarter as they got buckets from Larry and Stewart, a three by Williams and a few free throws by Stewart. Peru State was trailing Omaha 74-54 with a little under six minutes to play.
Omaha then immediately went on an 8-0 run as they now led 82-54 with just under four minutes to play in regulation. Omaha defeated Peru State 91-60.
Peru State shot 20-of-66 from the field shooting 30.3%, they were 6-of-14 from the three-point line shooting 42.9% and were 14-of-21 from the line shooting 66.7%. Omaha shot 31-of-70 from the field shooting 44.3%, they were 11-of-29 from beyond the arc shooting 37.9% and 18-of-23 from the charity stripe shooting 78.3%.
Leading the way in scoring was Stewart as she had 22 points, behind her were Duncan and Mosley with 12 and 10, respectively. Duncan and Julie Miller
(Easton, Kan.) tied for the lead in rebounds each with seven. Larry finished with five assists.
Peru State hosts MidAmerica Nazarene on Saturday, November 26, for its conference opener. Tip-Off is set for 2:00 p.m.
