(Peru, Neb.)—Peru State men's basketball defeated Ozark Christian College 102-73 Friday night. The Bobcats improve to 5-1 on the season, while Ozark falls to 2-2 overall.

Peru State and Ozark Christian were knotted up six all early. The Bobcats then went on a 5-0 run to go up 11-6 after an Ajante Hogan
(Lincoln) three ball and a ferocious dunk by Lorenzo Anderson
(Lithonia, Ga.).
Ozark then trimmed the lead down to four a couple of times with around 14 minutes remaining in the first half down 17-13. Peru State then went on a 12-2 run to make the score 29-15. Contributing to the run were buckets by Anderson, Savyon Traylor
(Atlanta, Ga.), Donzell Johnson
(Bloomington, Ill.) and Hogan.
A three by Ozark would stop the run but Johnson then turned around and hit a three as the score was 32-18 with just under ten minutes to play in the half. Ozark in the middle of the first half cut the lead to 15 as they trailed 37-22.
Peru State would stretch its lead back out to 19 after a layup by Fatih Huyuk
(Hatay, Turkey) as the score was now 43-24. Ozark was able to cut the lead back down to 15 with around four minutes left to play.
The Bobcats ended the half on a 14-2 run capped off by a Johnson three as they would take a 57-30 lead into the break. Ozark coming out of the half would cut the lead down to 19, but then Man Man Baker
(Aurora, Colo.) hit a three to make the score 62-40.
Moments later Peru State would go on a 9-0 run to make the score 71-42 after Christian Tidiane
(Council Bluffs, Iowa) laid it in. Ozark could not claw its way back into the game as the lead stretched out to 29 after Hogan slammed down a dunk to make the score 81-52.
Later in the second half Peru State had a comfortable 30-point lead as they were up 90-60 with just over seven minutes to play. Ozark could not cut into the lead as they were down 93-66 with five minutes to play.
The Bobcats would hold Ozark to five points in the final few minutes of play as they cruised to the 102-73 win.
Peru State shot 44-of-76 from the field shooting 57.9%, they were 10-of-28 from beyond the arc shooting 35.7% and 4-of-8 from the charity stripe shooting 50%.
Ozark shot 31-of-72 from the field shooting 43.1%, they shot 5-of-30 from beyond the arc shooting 16.7% and they were 6-of-8 from the line shooting 75%.
Peru State had outscored Ozark 58-26 in the paint, they scored 25 points off turnovers compared to Ozark's eight and had 51 points off the bench compared to Ozark's 19.
Johnson led the way in points with 19, Traylor had 17, Hogan had 16, Anderson finished with 13 and Huyuk had 12. Huyuk, Tidiane and Traylor tied for the lead in rebounds with seven and Baker led the way in assists with five.
Peru State begins conference play next Saturday, November 26, as they host MidAmerica Nazarene. Tip-Off is set for 4:00 p.m.
