Baker University Dominates Peru State College on Their Home Turf

(Peru, Neb.) – On Saturday, September 18, Baker University earned their third win of the season with a 33-3 win over Peru State College. With the win the 12th-ranked Wildcats improved to 3-1 on the year.
 
The 'Cats fell to 2-2 overall on the year.
 
First Quarter
 
The Bobcats would get the ball and the length of the field as Shane McInerney (Galway, Ireland) nailed a 30-yard field goal to take the early lead 3-0 with 9:00 minutes left in the game.
 
Baker would take the lead with 2:38 left in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown as they would lead 7-3.
 
Second Quarter
 
The Wildcat would extend the lead after making a 22-yard field goal to make it 10-3 with 8:15 remaining until halftime.
 
After Peru State was forced to punt, Baker went down and was able to extend the lead once again by making a 31-yard field goal with 39 seconds remaining until intermission.
 
Third Quarter
 
The Wildcats would score on a passing touchdown to make the score 20-3. Baker had scored 20 unanswered on the Bobcats.
 
Fourth Quarter
 
The Wildcats would add another touchdown on a rush from 28 yards out as they would have a commanding 27-3 lead with 11:42 left in the game.
 
Baker would score for the last time on a run play to make it 33-3.
 
Statistics
Joey Dominguez (Von Ormy, Texas) led the team in passing with 51 yards.

Dominguez also led the team in rushing yards with nine rushes for 34 yards.

Ki'Jana Owns (North Platte) was second on the team with ten rushes for 18 yards.

Garry Fleming (Saint Petersburg, Fla.) had two catches for 32 yards as he led the Bobcat receiving corps.

Devin Adams (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) led the team with nine tackles – four of them being solos. Adams also had one sack and 4.5 tackles for losses.

Carlos Thomas (Gulf Port, Miss.) earned seven tackles with four of them solos.

Travis Reed (Hickman) recorded seven tackles with five solos. Reed also recorded one sack for a loss of 11 yards.

Clayton Thrasher (Mandeville, La.) earned six tackles – two solos.

Armunz Mathews (Quincy, Fla.)  earned five total tackles in the game with four solos. Mathews also had the lone interception for the 'Cats.

Next Game

Peru State will be at home for their next game as MidAmerica Nazarene University (1-3) comes to town for a 2 p.m. kickoff. It will also be the Bobcats' Homecoming game.
