Peru State MBB Moved to 6-0 at Home after a 69-60 Win over Grand View

(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State men's basketball team stayed perfect at home against Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) opponent Grand View University after a 69-60 win Saturday afternoon. With the win the 'Cats moved back to .500 on the year at 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the Heart.
 
The Vikings fell to 7-4 on the year and 2-2 in conference play.
 
1st Half
 
In four minutes of playing time the Bobcats jumped out to an 8-3 lead over Grand View. At the 15:02 mark the lead would be at nine points after Man Man Baker (Aurora, Colo.) made a layup off the assist from Henry Tanksley (Lincoln) with the score at 12-3.
 
Peru State saw their first double-digit lead at the 13:32 mark after Baker would make a layup off the pass from Tanksley to lead 14-4. The Vikings would go on an 8-2 run to get within four points of the Bobcats at 16-12 with 11:26 left until halftime.
 
After a Dedoch Chan (Rochester, Minn.) made layup, the 'Cats led by eight points at 23-15 with just over five minutes left of the first half.
 
The Bobcats ended the first half on a 7-2 run to take a double-digit lead after the first 20 minutes of play at 30-19.
 
2nd Half
 
After a minute had gone by in the second half, the 'Cats led by 14 points at 35-21 after Skyler Wilson (Omaha) made a three off the assist from Chan. Then Chan made a jumper off the assist from Wilson.
 
With 15:37 on the clock the Vikings would get the game back to single digits at eight points with the score at 38-30. After another bucket from Grand View, they would be within six points with 14:51 left to go in the game.
 
Baker would convert a three-point play to extend Peru State lead in the game to nine points at 41-32 with 13:42 remaining.
 
Peru State led for the rest of the game with the Vikings getting as close as four points at 45-41 with 10:01 left to go as the Bobcats won their sixth consecutive home game of the year 69-60.
 
After the game Peru State head coach Bob Ludwig said, "I thought we did some better things defensively the last two games, which helped us when we didn't score it as well. We need to keep improving on that end," Ludwig continued, "Really proud of SJ Allison Jr. (Dallas, Texas). He consistently brings great energy and effort in everything we do. It was no surprise to see him hit those shots late."

Stats
 
Peru State shot 25-55 for 45.5% which included 9-27 from three for 33.3%. The 'Cats made 10-14 from the charity stripe for 71.4%.
 
Baker led the team with 18 points while Wilson added 15 and would get 12 points from Jibril Harris (Chicago, Ill.).
 
Baker added ten rebounds which gave him the double-double in the game while Harris added nine boards.
 
Baker was two assists shy of a triple double as he led with a game-high eight. Wilson added three assists while Tanksley added two.
 
Tanksley added two steals.
 
Chan, Baker, and Harris each had one block each in the game.
 
Upcoming Game
 
Peru State will be heading to the Sunshine State as they play in the Florida Cruzin' Classic. On Dec. 17, they will face #18 Morningside College Mustangs. On Dec. 18, they will face Dakota Wesleyan University. All games will be played in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
