(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State Women's basketball team traveled to York on Nov. 10 to play a non-conference game against York College. The Bobcats got back to .500 after an 83-63 win on the road against the Panthers.
The 'Cats improved to 4-4 on the season while York fell to 2-3 on the season.
1st Quarter
Peru State started the quarter on a 4-0 run off a made jump shot from
Samantha Stewart (Mount Ayr, Iowa) off the pass from
Lycia Peevy (Paris, Ark.). This was followed by a Peevy made jump shot off the assist from
Hailey Ingram (Omaha) with 8:22 on the clock.
The Bobcats would lead by five at the 5:41 mark after Jescenia Mosely
(Shenandoah, Iowa) made a field goal off the pass from
Natasha Deal (Winnebago). The 'Cats led by ten at the 2:29 mark after Deal made a free throw with score at 20-10.
Peru Stat would end the quarter on a 10-2 run to lead 30-12 after the first ten minutes of the game.
2nd Quarter
York went on a 6-0 run to start the quarter as they would still trail in the game 30-18 with 8:57 left to go until intermission. At the 8:10 mark the Bobcats got on the board in the quarter with a made bucket by Peevy off the pass from
Maddy Duncan (Hamburg, Iowa). Peevy then made a three off the pass from Duncan as the 'Cats led by 15 points at 35-20 with 7:36 left to go until break.
The Bobcats led by 22 after Ingram hit a three off the pass from Peevy with 5:33 on the clock as the score was 44-22.
With a Mosley made shot off the assist from Ingram the Bobcats led by 26 points with just over two minutes left until halftime. Peru State would have strong first half as they led York 53-26 after 20 minutes of basketball.
3rd Quarter
The Panthers would score the first four points of the quarter before Duncan connected on a three off the assist from Stewart with 8:55 on the clock with the score at 56-30. At the 5:58 mark the Bobcats led by 28 points after two made free throws by Deal.
Libby Baumert (Plattsmouth) made a jump shot off the pass from Ingram at the 2:51 mark of the quarter as the 'Cats led 68-34.
After 30 minutes had be played the Bobcats led 68-42.
4th Quarter
Peru State went on a 4-0 run to start the quarter. A made field goal from Peevy and then one from Deal put the score at 72-42 with 8:15 left to go in the game.
The Panthers went on a 5-0 run before Mosely connected on a three-pointer off the assist from Ingram as York still trailed 75-47 with 5:57 on the clock.
Peru State had their first 30-point lead in the game after
Julie Miller (Easton, Kan.) made a bucket.
The 'Cats used a big first half to take control of the game from the opening as they would win their third game out of their last four starts to get back to .500 on the season.
Stats
The Bobcats shot 34-66 for 51.5% which included 31.3% from three-point range and 10-15 for 66.7% from the free throw line.
Peevy led the Bobcats in scoring with 18 on 8-12 shooting while Duncan and Mosely added 16 each.
Peevy led the game in rebounds with nine. She was just one board short of her third double-double of the season. Mosely added six boards of her own and Baumert added five rebounds.
Ingram and Peevy tied for the game-high in assists with six each. Duncan contributed three assists.
Peevy grabbed three steals while Stewart and Duncan added two.
Baumert and Peevy had one block each.

The 'Cats will be back in the AWAC on Saturday, Nov. 13, as they host McPherson College Bulldogs (3-0) at 4 p.m.
