(Peru, Neb.) – On Tuesday, October 28, the Peru State Men's Basketball team improved to 1-0 on the year after a 104-57 win over the Spurgeon College Knights. It was a team effort as all players that got in the game were able to score.
1st Half
The 'Cats would get on the board first with a layup by
Troy Houghton (Omaha) with 18:59 on the clock. Houghton would get another layup to go off the pass from
Skyler Wilson (Omaha) as the 'Cats would lead 4-0 with 16:50 in the half.
With just over 15 minutes to play the Bobcats would lead 10-4 after a layup on
Dedoch Chan (Rochester, Minn.).
Over a six-minute stretch, the 'Cats would go on a 20-0 run to lead 30-4 with 9:21 until intermission.
SJ Allison Jr. (Dallas, Texas) would make a three-pointer off the pass from Houghton as Peru State would lead 33-9.
With 4:58 left until halftime Allison Jr. would hit another three-pointer. This time the assist would come from
Tonje Durham (Richmond, Va.) as the Bobcats would lead 40-9. Peru State would go into halftime leading 51-21.
2nd Half
Peru State would start with a layup by
Man Man Baker (Aurora, Colo.) in the opening seconds of the second half.
Jibril Harris (Chicago, Ill.) would get in on the scoring action as he would get a layup to go on the second-chance points as the Bobcats led 55-21 with 19:24 left in the game.
Later in the second half
Christian Tidiane (Council Bluffs, Iowa) would make a layup with the assist coming from
Ajantae Hogan (Lincoln). At the 12:11 mark, Hogan would make a layup off the assist from Tidiane as the 'Cats led 72-32.
Hogan would connect from long range off the pass from
Tyler Riley (Springfield) as the 'Cats would lead 76-34 with 11:30 remaining.
The Bobcats would be in control the whole game as they would get their first in in the Al Wheeler Activity 104-57.
Stats
Peru State would shoot 42-83 for 50.6% which included 13-34 from three for 38.2%. The Bobcats would connect on 7-11 free throws for 63.6%.
Hogan would lead the 'Cats in scoring with 19 on 8-13 shooting which included 3-5 from three. Houghton and Chan would be the only other players in double-figures as they both had ten.
Riley would have game-high four assists while
Ty Griggs (Omaha) added three.
Chan led the team with six rebounds which included having three on the offensive end. Allison Jr. and Tidiane each had five rebounds.
Wilson added a game-high four steals while Allison Jr., Griggs,
Henry Tanksley (Lincoln), Baker, and Hogan each had two steals on the night. Peru State finished with 16 steals.
Hogan and Durham each were credited with a one block.
