Unbeaten Grand View VB Sweeps Peru State

(Peru, Neb.) – The visiting Grand View Vikings proved why they are one of the better teams in the NAIA Tuesday night as they swept the Peru State volleyball team in a little over an hour.

The Vikings, now 11-0 overall, and 9-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) North Division defeated the 'Cats 25-13, 25-17, 25-8.

Peru State, playing its final home match of the season, fell to 2-13 on the season and 1-10 in conference play.

First Set Action

Grand View jumped to a 4-0 lead before giving the Bobcats a point on a service error. The Vikings would never trail in the set on their way to the 25-13 first set win.
Dawson Sharman
Dawson Sharman led the team with four kills

Second Set Action

Peru State was more competitive in the second set, but the Vikings always seemed to be in control. After Grand View scored the first point of the set, back-to-back Viking errors gave Peru State its only lead of the set at 2-1.

The Bobcats would still be within one at 7-6 after Cheyenne Birkle (Holden, Mo.) had a service ace. The Vikings would extend their lead to 12 at 20-8 before the 'Cats would score a few points to make the score respectable.

Third Set Action

A 6-0 start by Grand View prompted a timeout for the Bobcats. Back-to-back Viking errors pulled the Bobcats within four at 6-2, but that would be as close as Peru State would be in the final set.
