(Peru, Neb.) – It was a battle of teams receiving votes in the NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll and the home team came out on top in Sioux City, Iowa, Friday night.
 
Briar Cliff improved to 7-4 after topping Peru State 25-15, 21-25, 25-27, 25-21, 15-9. The Bobcats fell to 16-3 with the loss.

The Swedes out-hit the 'Cats .261 to .161 and had a big blocking advantage with 25 total blocks compared to Peru State's 14.
 
Yorgelys Jaspe (San Carlos, Venezuela) had a match-high 19 kills to lead Peru State. Nadja Janjevic (Podgorica, Montenegro) finished with 11 kills while hitting .417 and Kira Shapiro (Omaha) added ten kills. Jhessica Martins (Uberlandia, Brazil) added eight kills.
 
Brooke Rudebusch (Moorpark, Calif.) had a game-high 43 assists.

 
Jaspe and Janjevic each had two service aces while Cristina Viera (Montevideo, Uruguay) finished with one.
 
Viera led the Bobcats with 29 digs while four other 'Cats finished in double digits with digs. Gianna Gangi (Simi Valley, Calif.) had 17, Jaspe had 15, Rudebusch finished with 11, and Shapiro added ten.
 
The Bobcats did not have any solo blocks, but finished with 14 block assists.
 
Shapiro and Janjevic each had four block assists while Jaspe and Alex Bowman (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) each added two.

Peru State will not wait long to restart the winning streak as they will be back in action on Saturday in Omaha at Grace University.
 
At 3 p.m., the Bobcats will face Presentation (S.D.). The Saints are 3-10 on the season having lost six in a row. Later, at 5 p.m., the 'Cats will take on the host Royals. Grace is currently 4-7 on the season and they are coming off a win over Presentation one week ago.
