(Peru, Neb.) – Nearly 25 years ago in December of 1990, the Peru State Bobcat football team did what no other team on the campus had done before. They captured the NAIA Division II National Football Championship with a win over Westminster College 17-7 in Omaha at the University of Nebraska Omaha stadium.

On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17, Peru State will host a weekend celebration to commemorate the championship team and coaches. The public is invited to attend all of the celebrations or any part.

Division II National Football Championship in Omaha over Westminster (PA)A banquet will be held Friday night in the Student Center on the Campus of a Thousand oaks. A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a banquet at 6:30 p.m. Those attending will have a choice of a filet with mushroom sauce or chicken a la Oscar with special dietary needs handled if requested. The cost is $30. Reservations are due by Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Saturday's football game begins at 11:00 a.m. when Peru State takes on William Penn University. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $5 for non-Peru State students between the ages of 7-17. Tailgating options are still available for that weekend. For those unable to attend in person, the game will be televised on ESPN3.
