(Peru, Neb.) – For the second weekend in a row, the Peru State Bobcat volleyball team hosted a tournament. On Friday, Sept. 20, the Bobcats hosted the Thousand Oaks Triangular with Central Methodist University (Mo.) and Clarke University (Iowa) participating.
The Crusaders of Clarke finished the triangular 2-0, the Eagles of Central Methodist finished 1-1, and the Bobcats dropped two tough, five-set matches on Friday.
With the two losses, Peru State falls to 11-8 overall for the season.

After taking the first two sets of the match, the Bobcats eventually ended up falling to the Eagles 25-21, 25-14, 19-25, 18-25, 14-16. Normally, Peru State had been a slow starting team, but today they came out, but then Central Methodist warmed up.
Carrie Lierz (Holton, Kan.) and
Bre Brandt (Papillion) led the Bobcat hitters respectively with 12 and ten kills.
Rachael West (El Dorado, Kan.), Brittany Peterson (Orem, Utah), and
Lindsey Nelson (Granite Bay, Calif.) each had eight kills.
Courtney Jurek (Bellevue) and
Hope Harsh (Cassoday, Kan.) led the setting with 17 and 16 assists respectively.
Serving as a little more challenging for the 'Cats as their total service errors of eight were more than their five ace serves.
Paige Young (Gretna) had three service aces while Nelson and
Jordyn Lukasiewicz (Farwell) each had one.
Mallory Hull (Morse Bluff) had 24 digs to lead Peru State in that category. Jurek and Brandt each had 14 while Lukasiewicz had 13.
Brandt had two solo blocks and one block assist for Peru State. Peterson had four block assists while West added two and Nelson contributing one.

Again, the 'Cats took the first two sets of the match only to drop the next three. The Crusaders topped Peru State 27-29, 24-26, 25-17, 25-17, 15-8.
Brandt was the only Bobcat in double figures with kills as she finished with 13. Lierz and Nelson each had eight kills while West added seven.
Jurek finished with 19 assists while Harsh added 18.
Jurek also had two service aces while Brandt and Young each had one.
Hull and Brandt both had more than 20 digs with Hull finished with 29 and Brandt had 22.
The Bobcats did not have any solo blocks, but were credited with eight block assists. Sutton led the efforts with three while West, Peterson, Nelson, Brandt, and Lierz each had one block assist.

Upcoming Competition
The Bobcats will have their first taste Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) action on Tuesday, night, Sept. 24, as they host the Baker University (Kan.) Wildcats. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in the Al Wheeler Activity Center (AWAC).
On Friday, Sept. 27, the 'Cats will travel to Leavenworth, Kan., to face the Lady Spires of the University of St. Mary. Game time for the non-conference match is set for 7 p.m. Earlier this season in the Avila University tournament, the Bobcats topped the Lady Spires 3-1.
