(Peru, Neb.) - Bobcat volleyball players
Brittany Peterson (Orem, Utah), Maddie Sutton
(Gretna), and
Bre Brandt (Papillion) were among the 12 volleyball players named to the Peru State College Claws Out Volleyball Challenge All-Tournament Team. The selections, made by the nine participating head coaches, were announced early Monday morning.
Peterson, a 6-1 senior middle hitter, played her first volleyball games of the season having come back from an injury suffered just days before preseason practices started. Playing in only three games in the tournament, Peterson had 29 kills on 49 swings while committing only four errors, hitting at an outstanding .510 clip. Peterson had 14 kills against Valley City State University. In addition, Peterson had one solo block and 14 block assists in the three games.
A 6-2 freshman middle hitter, Sutton had 21 kills on 46 attempts and hit .326 in four games. Against Dakota State University, Sutton had nine kills in 11 attempts for a .818 hitting percentage. Sutton added two solo blocks and seven blocks assists in the four wins. Also, Sutton had four digs.
Brandt, a 6-0 junior outside hitter, led the Bobcats with 43 kills in the four wins. Against Grace University, Brandt had 15 kills and hit .357. Brandt also had 22 digs, four block assists, and one service ace in the four games.
Peru State and Friends University each had three players making the team after each team went 4-0 in the tournament. Others joining the Bobcats on the team were Crystal Taporco – 6-0 Outside/Middle Hitter, Hayley Young – 5-8 Setter/Right Side Hitter, and Ciara Lawson – 5-9 Outside Hitter – Friends University; Bailey Kuchta – 5-8 Sophomore Outside Hitter and Allison Cross 6-1 Freshman Middle Hitter – Mount Marty University; Josette Glatt – 6-1 Junior Right Side Hitter and Remington Werner – 5-9 Sophomore Outside Hitter – Mayville State University; Aurissa Martens – 6-0 Senior Middle Hitter – Valley City State University; and Mallory Babic – 5-10 Sophomore Outside Hitter – College of St. Mary.
