(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat volleyball team is still looking for their first win in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) after dropping their contest with the visiting MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) Pioneers. MNU took the game in four by winning 25-17, 25-20, 18-25, 25-19. It was the Pioneers' first win in the HAAC as they improved to 1-0 and 8-3 overall. The Bobcats fall to 2-7 (0-2 HAAC).
It was a close game throughout with the largest lead by either team being the result of the first set. At several different points in the final three sets, both teams had leads only to see the other team fight their way back to knot the score.
Maddy Lister (North Platte) led the Bobcats with 15 kills, one dig, and one assist.
Carly Morehead (Fairbury) added nine kills, five digs, three sets, and one solo block.
Tara Carstens (Lincoln) provided eight kills, one dig, one solo block, and one assist. Carstens' hitting percentage was the highest on the team for the night as she hit .375.
Carrie Lierz (
Holton, Kan.) added five kills, three digs, and two block assists.
Courtney Jurek (Bellevue) led the setters with 15 assists, nine digs, and two service aces.
Amanda Gilreath (Omaha) added eight assists and six digs.
Emily Maresh (Central City) had 17 digs and one service ace.
Kelsey Monahan (Atkinson) contributed ten digs and two kills.
The Bobcats will try to capture their first HAAC win as they travel to Kansas City, Mo., on Saturday, Sept. 17, to take on the Avila University Eagles at 2 p.m. The Eagles are presently 7-7 overall and 0-1 in the HAAC.
