Peru State athletic director Steve Schneider announced Friday that senior golfer Marisa Pribnow (Lincoln) and junior football player Travis Carnahan (Wahoo) were selected as the July Bobcat Student-Athletes of the Month.
While he did not earn the Heart honor, Carnahan was Peru State’s male nominee for the A.O. Duer Award. However, during the month, Carnahan was named as one of the nominees for the 2016 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team. This is considered as one of the most coveted off-the-field honors in college football. Carnahan was one of two Nebraskans nominated and just one of two nominees from the Heart.
Schneider commented, “Marisa and Travis are excellent selections as Athletes of the Month. Both of them have experienced much success athletically and also have been role models for being successful in the classroom as well.” Concluding, Schneider noted, “In addition, these two have gone above and beyond in terms of being good servant leaders.”
