Peru State athletic director Steve Schneider announced on Friday that junior softball player Halle Holloway (Waco) and junior baseball player Mark McGinnity (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) were selected as the June Bobcat Student-Athletes of the Month.
Holloway recently received honorable mention recognition in the Omaha World-Herald’s All-Nebraska NAIA softball team. The junior, who primarily played in the infield this season, was the team’s leading hitter for most of the season. She finished second on the team with a .329 batting average having collected 51 hits in 155 at bats. The 51 hits was top on the Bobcat team. Holloway had ten doubles, one triple, and drove in 11. As she will be graduating in December, she will not be returning for her senior season.
“Halle and Mark are representative of what true student-athletes should be about. Both have had success in the classroom, as well as, in athletics,” noted Schneider. Concluding, he added, “We wish Halle the best and look forward to having Mark back next year.”
