Nicole Reznicek (Omaha) and Kyle Killen (Commerce City, Colo.) were selected earlier this month as the Bobcat Athletes of the Month for April. Peru State athletic director Steve Schneider recently announced the honorees.
Killen finished his senior campaign as Peru State’s leader in batting average at .399. He had 65 hits, 45 runs, 13 doubles, two triples, six home runs, and drove in 47 RBI. Killen stole nine bases without being caught.
In all games played, Killen finished in the following Top 20 categories in the Heart: fifth in batting average at .399; fifth in on base percentage at .480; sixth in total assists with 127; seventh in assists per game with 2.44; eighth in slugging percentage at .613; 11th in total runs at 45; 11th in hits per game at 1.25; 12th in runs scored per game at 0.86; 12th in total runs batted in with 47; 13th in total hits at 65; 14th in runs batted in per game at 0.90; 14th in total bases with 100; 16th in total bases per game at 1.92; tied for 17th in total doubles with 13; tied for 17th in total home runs at 0.12; and 19th in home runs per game at 0.12.
At the conclusion of the baseball season, Killen was named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference second team.
Schneider stated, “Nicole and Kyle are good choices for the April Bobcat Athletes of the Month as they were leaders on their respective teams.”
