Peru State College Athletics

Peru State’s women’s golfer Jessica Weickert (Beatrice) and Bobcat men’s basketball player Corday Sims (Chicago) have been selected by athletic director Steve Schneider as the March Athletes of the Month.
 
Weickert earned the recognition after being named during the final week of the month as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week. The recognition came on the heels of Weickert being the medalist at the Nebraska Wesleyan University Spring Invitational. Weickert carded rounds of 79 and 79 for a two-day total to win the event by one stroke.
 
In Peru State’s only other meet in March, Weickert finished in a tie for tenth in the Graceland Spring Invite. This was Weickert’s second time being named as the Heart Golfer of the Week having earned the honor once as a sophomore.

Schneider noted, “Jessica and Corday are excellent representatives as ‘Athletes of the Month.’ Jessica is a key component of the women’s golf program while Corday finished another excellent season in a Bobcat uniform. Congratulations to both of them.”
