Two Bobcat basketball players are being recognized as the Peru State Athletes of the Month for January. Senior guards Sydney Wilkinson (St. Joseph, Mo.) and Corday Sims (Chicago) were recently noted as the honorees by Peru State athletic director Steve Schneider.
Sims has twice been named as the Heart’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and was also named as the NAIA’s National Player of the Week on Jan. 12. Recently, Sims was named to the inaugural Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List which will identify the top small college players.
Presently, Sims is listed in the following NAIA Division I individual rankings: third in total scoring (505), fourth in points per game (24.048), tenth in total three-point field goals made (64), 12th in three-point field goals made per game (3.048), 23rd in free throw percentage (0.820), 27th in total rebounds (166), and 31st in total rebounds per game (7.905).
Schneider stated, “Sydney has been an important member of the women’s team for the past four seasons and also has been a good representative for the team as a member of SAAC. Corday is having another excellent season on the court along with his teammates.”
