Two Bobcat basketball players are being recognized as the Peru State Athletes of the Month for January. Senior guards Sydney Wilkinson (St. Joseph, Mo.) and Corday Sims (Chicago) were recently noted as the honorees by Peru State athletic director Steve Schneider.
Wilkinson has donned a Bobcat women’s basketball uniform for four years and currently is leading the Heart of America Athletic Conference averaging 2.818 steals per game. This past month, Wilkinson has scored 60 points, pulled down 36 rebounds, dished out 23 assists, grabbed 29 steals, and blocked four shots – yes, the shortest player on the team has blocked four shots.
Currently, Wilkinson is ranked in three categories in NAIA Division I – fifth in total steals (62), sixth in steals per game (2.818), and 49th in total assists (64). Wilkinson leads the team averaging 2.91 assists per contest on the year.
Schneider stated, “Sydney has been an important member of the women’s team for the past four seasons and also has been a good representative for the team as a member of SAAC. Corday is having another excellent season on the court along with his teammates.”
