Brittany Harward (Orem, Utah) and Randy Santiesteban (Hialeah, Fla.) were recently named as the Peru State Bobcat Athletes of the Month for May. The honors were announced by athletic director Steve Schneider.
 
Harward earned the recognition for having been named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference Softball All-Conference Second Team. Also, Harward was recently named as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete. Santiesteban was named as the May Male Athlete of the Month as he was named to the Heart’s Baseball All-Conference First Team. In addition, Santiesteban was the Heart’s Post-Season Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP).

As an infielder, Santiesteban's statistics at the time of the Heart All-Conference honors were as follows with the rankings being reflective of how he stood within the conference: first in slugging percentage (.691), tied for first in total doubles (19), tied for first in total home runs (9), second in batting average (.425), second in runs scored per game (1.12), second in hits per game (1.48), second in total hits (77), second in doubles per game (0.36), second in total doubles (19), second in home runs per game (0.17), second in total bases per game (2.40), second in total bases (125), tied for second in total runs scored (58), third in total runs batted in (44), fourth in on base percentage (.483), fifth in total assists (129), fifth in runs batted in per game (0.85), seventh in assists per game (2.48), seventh in total at bats (181), 11th in at bats per game (3.48), 13th in stolen bases per game (0.21), tied for 13th in total stolen bases (11), 14th in total steal attempts (14), and 15th in steal attempts per game (0.27).
 
During the conference tourney where he earned MVP honors, Santiesteban hit safely in all four games of the tournament as he went 9 for 15 during the week with three doubles and had one RBI. Against Graceland in the tourney, Santiesteban was 5 for 5 with two doubles and scored five runs.
 
Most recently, Santiesteban was named to the NAIA Baseball All-America First Team. He became Peru State’s first baseball player to receive the top honor.
