Peru State athletic director Steve Schneider announced on Feb. 3 that Karlee Stuart (Las Animas, Colo.) and Corday Sims (Chicago) were selected as the Bobcat Athletes of the Month for January. Stuart and Sims become the first pair of honorees to be selected back-to-back in consecutive months since the inception of the award in October 2011. Other individuals have been selected back-to-back, but not a consecutive pair.
Sims, a 6-5 guard, earned his player of the week honors for averaging 25.3 points and 7.0 rebounds during the week of Jan. 19. Against Grace, Sims had a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds. In Peru State’s road win over Baker, Sims added 28 points. Then, on the following Saturday against Central Methodist, Sims had 21 points and nine rebounds.

Presently, Sims is leading Peru State in scoring averaging 19.29 points per game while shooting 44.9 from the floor. Sims is currently listed in five NAIA Division I Top 50 categories with his point average ranking 20th. Presently, Sims is leading the conference in scoring which includes only conference games with 22.0 points per game. Overall, Sims is third in scoring in all games.
