Bobcat softball player Alexis Paulo-Meyers (Waianae, Hawaii) and Bobcat baseball player Eddy Tavarez Cabrera (San Cristobel, Dominican Republic) were recently named by Peru State interim athletic director Steve Schneider as the March Bobcat Athletes of the Month. They were identified by Schneider for the honor based on their recent athletic accomplishments for their respective teams.
Tavarez Cabrera, a junior, was the team’s top hurler in March for the Bobcats. During the month, Tavarez Cabrera went 4-1.
At this point in the season, Tavarez Cabrera is listed in six different NAIA Top 50 individual rankings: third in opponent batting average (0.161), fifth in hits allowed per nine (5.15), ninth in total hits allowed (25), 18th in total earned runs allowed (9), 23rd in earned run average (1.850), and 35th in total runs allowed (15).
Tavarez Cabrera presently has a team-high 68 strikeouts and has had more than ten K’s on two different occasions.
In announcing his March selections, Schneider noted “With their efforts on the court, Alexis and Eddy are good choices for the March Peru State Athletes of the Month.”
