Peru State athletic director Steve Schneider announced that Bobcat women’s basketball player Abigail Niebrugge (Omaha) and Bobcat men’s basketball player Quantice Hunter (Chicago) were selected as the November Athletes of the Month. They were picked based on their respective selections as Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) Basketball Player of Week.
Also a senior guard, the 6-2 Hunter was named the Heart’s Player of the Week on Nov. 14. His previous week’s efforts of averaging 34 points per game during the Northwestern College Classic netted him the honor. He scored a career high of 41 points against Northwestern where he made 12 of 23 field goals which included making eight of ten from long range.
Hunter is presently listed in several categories in the NAIA Top Individual Rankings: third in points per game – 25.375, fifth in total steals – 24, sixth in steals per game – 3.00, seventh in total scoring – 203, 42nd in three-point field goal percentage – 47.6%, 42nd in three-point field goals made – 20, and 49th in three point-field goals made per game – 2.50.
In announcing his November selections, Schneider noted “Being selected as a Heart player of the week is an honor for anyone especially since the conference is very large. Thus, Abby and Quantice are excellent Bobcat representatives for the month of November.”
