(Peru, Neb)—Earlier this month cross country head coach
James Cole signed Austen Janssen to the Peru State cross country team for the Fall 2022 season. Janssen is from Newcastle, Nebraska and went to Ponca High School.
The son of Alan and Cheri Janssen is 6-0 and will help the 'Cats compete next fall. Janssen will be studying Pre-Med while at Peru State College. Janssen was Academic All-State for two years while attending Ponca High School. Janssen was a dual sport athlete as he played basketball and ran cross country.

"He is a smart and mature young man," said Cole. "I met him and his father in January and am impressed with Austen's drive to work towards his goals in and out of season."
Cole continued...
"I know he will work hard to succeed at the collegiate level and will be a great addition to the team dynamic. I am very happy to add him to our roster and look forward to working with him."
