Bobcat Cheerleaders Host Cheer Camp

(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat cheerleaders hosted a cheerleading camp for high school teams on August 13. Twenty-three girls from three different schools in central and western Nebraska participated in the daylong camps.

Bobcat cheerleading coach Chelsea Allgood noted that squads from Morrill, David City and Grand Island Central Catholic participated. Allgood and her Bobcat cheerleaders provided instruction in various cheer and dance techniques.

Those participating from Morrill were Athena Tarin, Whitney Hubbard, Amanda Kaufman, Arya Vakoc, Ana Rodriguez, Dayja Venable, and Tiffanie Burch.

The cheerleaders from Grand Island Central Catholic were Caitlyn Gonifas, Kaylie Pebeck, Kourtney Maxon, Rebecca Riley, and Katie Noble.

Traveling from David City to participate were Sam Ossain, Kiley Mcgill, Melissa Svoboda, Bailey Svoboda, Serra McGill, Emma Mattingly, Cassie McDonald, Jane Mattingly, Krystal McCombs, Trya Minert, and Celine Forney.

Allgood was pleased with the initial cheer camp turnout. Allgood said, “Two of the teams indicated they would like to come back next year. This was a good learning experience for all team members as well and we hope more teams will participate next year. Also, to have squads come this is great, but it gave them an opportunity to see the Peru State College campus.”
